Sunrisers Eastern Cape players Sisanda Magala and Craig Overton have been ruled out of the second season of Cricket South Africa’s SA20 league. The Sunrisers Eastern Cape team announced this on their official social media channels on Monday, January 8.
The Cape team clinched the SA20 championship in the inaugural edition by defeating the Pretoria Capitals in the final with a four-wicket victory. The team led by Aiden Markram achieved third position with a record of four wins and five losses in the league phase matches.
The Gqeberha-based franchise defeated the Joburg Super Kings by 14 runs in the semi-finals of the previous edition. The team beat the Pretoria Capitals in a low-scoring game. Spinner Roelof van der Merwe won the ‘Man of the Match’ award for his 4/31.

Sunrisers Eastern Cape took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to announce that Sisanda Magala and Craig Overton have been ruled out for the upcoming season due to their respective injuries. The team expressed its wishes for a speedy recovery for Magala and Overton.

Medium pacer Sisanda Magala, who was the second highest wicket-taker for Cape in the previous edition, secured 14 wickets in 12 matches at an average of 24. All-rounder Patrick Kruger has been named as a replacement for the injured Magala in the squadron.
