Sam Konstas’ unorthodox shots against Jasprit Bumrah gave this legendary player a "myocardial infarction"

Australia opener Sam Konstas announced his arrival in Test cricket with a bang. Konstas played some very bold shots and was fearless in his Test debut. Not many would have predicted that he would face India’s best bowler Jasprit Bumrah.

But the youngster was determined and brave enough to show his aggressive batting style against the best bowler in the world. Steve Smith, the only centurion in this Test so far, recently spoke about watching Konstas from the bench.

While the 19-year-old was making good progress, the Australian dressing room was enjoying his batting. As soon as he turned fifty, the locker room stood up to applaud the young man.

Steve Smith talks about Sam Konstas’ unorthodox shots at Jasprit Bumrah

After the end of the second day’s play, Steve Smith was asked at the press conference about Sam Konstas’ innings on debut. Smith praised the young man’s confidence and stated that he is not afraid of anything.

Smith also praised the way Konstas played shots like Jasprit Bumrah’s reverse serves and claimed that he suffered a heart attack while watching those shots on the bench.

“I don’t think much fazes the youngster, as we saw yesterday. He was reverse-ramping (Jasprit) Bumrah for a six and I was having a heart attack on the box. But look, I thought everything was fine. No stress “Smith told reporters.

Sam Konstas’ aggressive style against Jasprit Bumrah

Sam Konstas attempted to play unorthodox shots against Indian bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah from the third over of the match. However, he failed to connect any of them as Bumrah smiled back at him.

However, that didn’t stop Konstas from trying to take those shots. In Bumrah’s next over, he played a scooper for a four and then smashed it for a six with a reverse scooper.

These shots got Konstas going and he then played some more eye-catching shots in an exciting display of skill with the bat. He even smashed Jasprit Bumrah for six over long on, showing his confidence and fearless attitude.

In between, Konstas was also involved in a physical altercation with Virat Kohli in which both players collided with each other. The ICC later found Kohli guilty of the incident and imposed a fine on the former India captain.

Sam Konstas gives Australia a good start

Konstas smashed 60 off 65 balls and formed an excellent partnership of 89 runs for the first wicket with Usman Khawaja. The first few matches laid a solid foundation for Australia as they scored a massive total of 474 on the board. Steve Smith was Australia’s top scorer with an excellent 140 off 197 balls.

Sam Konstas had replaced Nathan McSweeney in this game after the latter posted disappointing scores in the first three Tests of the series. McSweeney found himself fouled against Jasprit Bumrah with the new ball and couldn’t seem to find an answer.
