Shafali Verma fell as India women’s ODI team for Australia tour announced

Shafali scored only 97 runs in four matches in the T20 World Cup and 56 runs in three ODI matches against New Zealand, which could be the reason for his exclusion.

The Women’s Selection Committee has announced the Team India (Senior Women) squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia. One notable absence from the team is Shafali Verma.

Harmanpreet Kaur will captain the Indian team for the three-match ODI series against Australia next month. This series is part of the ICC Women’s Championship, and both India and Australia have already qualified for the ICC Women’s World Cup 2026.

Shafali Verma has been left out of the squad. He scored only 97 runs in four matches in the T20 World Cup and 56 runs in three ODI matches against New Zealand, which could be the reason for his exclusion.

Shreyanka Patil is also excluded from the team. Meanwhile, all-rounder Harleen Deol is back in the squad for her first international match of 2024. The 26-year-old had been dealing with a knee injury for much of the year but has now been included in the squad.
