The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed the ICC Player of the Month nominees for January 2024. No Indian players were chosen in the list. Shamar Joseph was one of the players selected in the ICC list.

The other two players to earn a place among the ICC Player of the Month (January) nominees are Ollie Pope and Josh Hazlewood. West Indies seamer Shamar Joseph earned a spot after his five-wicket hauls in both Tests against Australia recently.

Ollie Pope earned a place after his recent century against India in the first Test last month. On the other hand, Josh Hazlewood earned a spot after his winning streaks in the Test series against Pakistan and the West Indies.

Shamar Joseph won the Player of the Series award in the AUS vs WI series

Shamar Joseph became a global name after leading the West Indies to a historic Test victory against Australia. The right-arm seamer took 7 wickets for 68 runs in the second innings of the AUS vs WI 2nd Test at The Gabba, leading the team to an 8-run win in the match.

Earlier, he also picked a five-wicket haul in the first Test of AUS vs WI. As a result, Shamar Joseph bagged the player of the series award for taking 13 wickets in the two-match Test series against Australia.

Ollie Pope led England to victory in the first IND vs ENG Test

England batsman Ollie Pope struck with a 196-run knock against India in the first Test of IND vs ENG. With his stunning knock, Pope propelled England to a fascinating victory in the match. Notably, England were trailing by 190 runs in the first innings. However, Pope helped the team ultimately win the match by 28 runs.

Josh Hazlewood picked 14 wickets in AUS vs WI Test series

Josh Hazlewood earned a place in the ICC Player of the Month for January after leading Australia to a clean 3-0 victory against Pakistan in a Test series. He also bowled outstanding spells against the West Indies in the Test series.

The right-arm pacer went for a 4-wicket haul in the third Test against Pakistan. Later he took another 4-wicket haul and 5-wicket haul against the West Indies in the first Test. His spells helped the Australians edge the visitors by 10 wickets in the opening game.

In total, Josh Hazlewood hampered 14 wickets in the two-match Test series against the West Indies. However, West Indies debutant Shamar Joseph won the Player of the Series award for his 13 wickets in the series.

Meanwhile, no Indian player could get a place in the ICC Player of the Month in January 2024. Shivam Dube scored 2 half-centuries in the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan in January 2024. He also won the award for Player of the Series. However, he was not selected for the list.

Notably, Yashasvi Jaiswal hit a double ton in the recent IND vs ENG second Test. However, since the match took place in February, Jaiswal could be named ICC Player of the Month for February later.
