Shardul Thakur, according to reports in the Times of India, was in pain for some time. He took injections to be fit for IPL 2024, but he didn’t see any improvement and that’s why he decided to undergo surgery. The source also claimed that the SUV was operated on by the same doctor who treated Mohammed Shami. He elaborated:

“Thakur was suffering from pain in his ankle for quite some time. He was given an injection before the IPL but the situation did not improve much so he decided to have surgery after the IPL as there is a three-month break before the IPL. The 2024-25 national season will begin.

“Thakur was operated on by the same doctor who operated on the knee of England’s star footballer Harry Kane and India pacer Mohammed Shami.”
