Shivam Dube talks about MS Dhoni’s role in his growth as a cricketer

In the video, Dube spoke about how he felt disappointed after learning that he would not be able to play alongside MS Dhoni in Team India. His first IPL team was Royal Challengers Bangalore but he later joined Chennai Super Kings.

It was when he joined the Super Kings that Dube’s performance improved drastically and he became a key player in the middle order. Dube also revealed that he couldn’t talk to Dhoni for the first few days.

“I always had a dream to play for India and play alongside MS Dhoni. When I made my debut for India, Dhoni had already retired. I felt bad. So I was not his team in the IPL either. Finally, when I joined his team in the IPL, it was a big occasion for me. I am his big fan. Though I can talk to him a lot now, earlier I used to get nervous while talking to him and I couldn’t talk to him,” Dube said in the video.

“I will always be his fan,” Shivam Dube said on MS Dhoni

Dube also mentioned that MS Dhoni’s praise can boost any player’s confidence. He also talks about Dhoni’s role as a guide, which helped him improve his cricket.

“He is such an important player that if he praises another player, it would be a big deal for him. If he says something positive about you, your confidence goes to another level. I think his role has been very important as he has helped me in many things so that I can do better. I have received a lot of advice from him which has improved my cricket a lot. I will always be his fan, irrespective of how close we are. I like spending time with him,” Dube explains.

Shivam Dube’s stellar performances for CSK in the IPL earned him the opportunity to play for India. In the IPL 2024, he was in brilliant form with the bat as he scored 396 runs in 14 matches at an average of 36 and a strike rate of 162.29.
