SHOCKING! Mustafizur Rahman cannot play in IPL 2025 despite being chosen as a replacement for Delhi Capitals

The return of Bangladesh Mustafizur Rahman to the IPL with Delhi Capitals has reached an unexpected obstacle, despite being officially appointed as a replacement signature for the rest of IPL 2025.

In a dramatic turn of the events, the firm of Delhi Capitals (DC) of Mustafizur Rahman for IPL 2025 may not materialize, since the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has not granted the objection certificate (NOC) required. This development occurs only a few hours after IPL formally announced Mustafizur as the replacement of the Australian batter Jake Fraser-McGurk, who retired from the league.

Mustafizur Rahman signed by Delhi Capitals after the departure of Jake Fraser-Mcgurk

DC had agreed to Mustafizur Rahman as a replacement player for INR 6 million rupees after Jake Fraser-McGurk opted for the tournament due to national tasks and a poor way. The Australian explosive, bought for INR 9 million rupees at the Mega Auction of IPL 2025, had a disappointing season, scoring only 55 races in six games before being retired. With DC still in the Playoffs race, Mustafizur’s addition was aimed at reinforcing his bowling unit.

The rapid left arm of Bangladesh has previously represented Delhi Capitals in IPL 2022 and 2023, and his familiarity with the franchise was seen as an advantage that was heading to the final crucial phase of the season.

However, Mustafizur Rahman’s IPL 2025 now seems very unlikely. The BCB CEO, Nizamuddin Chowdhury, told Espncricinfo that they had not received any communication from the IPL or Mustafizur with respect to the NOC. “Mustafizur is supposed to go with the EAU team according to the calendar. We have not received any communication from IPL officials or Mustafizur himself,” said Chowdhury.

The 28 -year -old rapid bowling player has already flown with the Bangladesh T20i team for his series against the EAU and Pakistan, who collide directly with the IPL schedule, with his tweet confirming the same. Bangladesh will play two T20IS in the EAU on May 17 and 19, followed by a series of five games in Pakistan from May 25 to June 3. In contrast, Delhi’s capitals are scheduled to play on May 18, 21 and 24, with playoffs to follow if they qualify.

Mustafizur’s availability throws Delhi Capitals in disorder

This development is an important setback for the IPL 2025 Capitals campaign, especially with other foreign players such as Mitchell Starc, FAF du plessis and Tristan Stubbs also uncertain due to international commitments. The new replacement rule introduced for the resumption season allowed the teams to bring temporary coverage for players who came out before their 12th game, but the rule cannot cancel national commitments or NO requirements.

From now on, it is unlikely that Mustafizur Rahman appears for Delhi Capitals, despite the announcement of IPL and the expectations of the franchise. Delhi’s capitals have not yet responded publicly to Noc’s controversy.

If no resolution is quickly found, Delhi’s capitals can be forced to explore another replacement abroad, just when they go to a decisive week in their impulse of Playoffs IPL 2025.
