THE LOWDOWN
SOUTH AFRICA
South Africa never got the opportunity to get out onto the pitch in Kingsmead to face India in the first T20i due to the rain, so the Proteas will try again here in Gqeberha. Aiden Markram captains the hosts with regular skipper Temba Bavuma not playing, whilst Quinton de Kock is away playing for Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League.
INDIA
Captain for this series, Suryakumar Yadav will hope to get the chance to lead out India in the second T20i after Sunday’s game was washed out. He skippers the tourists in the absence of both Rohit Sharma (rested) and Hardik Pandya (injury). In our most recent preview, we touched on this series being an excellent chance for Rinku Singh to stake a claim as a T20 finisher on the international stage after doing so in the 2023 IPL and the same applies this time around.
THE PREDICTION
We focused on the destructive power across South Africa’s batting line-up in our preview for the abandoned first T20i and nothing has changed our view going into this second match. The Proteas have the ability to keep going hard from the top order right down, which has a big impact in this form of the game. India may struggle to match their firepower when taking into account the players they have missing, so back South Africa to claim victory.
BETTING TIP: SOUTH AFRICA TO WIN
