THE LOWDOWN

SOUTH AFRICA

As expected, South Africa’s powerful batting unit got the better of India’s weakened bowling attack in the second T20i, ultimately leading the Proteas to victory by five wickets via the DLS method. Reeza Hendricks got them off to a good start with a fast and furious 49, setting a platform for South Africa’s eventual win which saw captain Aiden Markram also add 30 from only 17 balls. Earlier in the piece, Gerald Coetzee took three wickets.

INDIA

Although India were beaten last time out, they still a have positive to take out of the contest, specifically Rinku Singh. The Kolkata Knight Rider brought his IPL promise to the international stage, smashing 68 from just 39 balls and put on 70 runs for the fourth wicket with captain Suryakumar Yadav after the tourists lost early wickets. India’s eventual score of 180/7 wasn’t enough as South Africa benefitted from a shortened run chase.

THE PREDICTION

Although India can take heart from the performance of their middle order, there appears to be a clear gulf in class and experience between the South Africa batting core and that of the tourists. The bowling attack of India struggled to keep the shackles on the Proteas and it would be no surprise if that was to continue in Johannesburg, so back South Africa to win once again.

BETTING TIP: SOUTH AFRICA TO WIN
