The in-form Sanju Samson on Thursday (May 2) failed to get going with the bat in the ongoing game between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar castled the Rajasthan Royals captain for a three-ball duck to put Sunrisers Hyderabad on top. Sanju Samson had to come out to bat in the first over after Bhuvneshwar dismissed Jos Buttler for a golden duck in the second ball.
And on the fifth ball, the right-arm pacer returned Sanju Samson to reduce Rajasthan Royals to 1 for 2. Bhuvneshwar Kumar turned back the clock as he cleaned up the keeper-batsman with absolute beauty. He was a trademark swinger for Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Sanju Samson paid the price for trying to drive the ball. The ball went over the inside edge and grazed Samson’s pad before hitting the middle stump.

Talking about the game, Rajasthan Royals were 60 for 2 at the end of the powerplay. After the early departure of Buttler and Samson, Riyan Parag and Yashasvi Jaiswal steadied the ship for the visitors. Jaiswal was batting on 32 while Parag was unbeaten on 25 at the time of writing this report.
Earlier in the game, SRH recovered from a poor start to post a grand total of 201 for 3 in the allotted 20 overs. Nitish Reddy starred in the ball for the hosts, scoring an unbeaten 76 off 42 balls with the help of three fours and eight sixes. Opener Travis Head also played a crucial knock of 58 runs. Heinrich Klaasen helped SRH finish the innings strongly by smashing an unbeaten 42 for 19.
“I just backed myself from the first ball. I only got 11 runs off 11 balls, I backed myself for the Chahal over, everything went pretty well. After that, I carried my game and Klaasen played a brilliant knock. Don’t look at the players who play bowling, just look at the ball, that’s what I’ve been thinking, it really worked,” Reddy said after the knock.
