The player is a key piece of the team and his absence will be felt.

A star Indian player will miss one of the first two Tests against Australia during the Border Gavaskar Trophy later this year due to personal reasons, according to a PTI report. The player has reportedly informed the BCCI about his unavailability, although it is not clear which Test match he will miss.

Indian team captain Rohit Sharma will be unavailable for a portion of the Border Gavaskar Trophy, which will be a huge blow to the team. According to the PTI, there is no complete clarity about the situation.

“There is not complete clarity about the situation. It is understood that Rohit has hinted to the BCCI that there is a possibility that due to an urgent personal matter, he may have to skip one of the two Tests at the start of the series,” a BCCI source told PTI on conditions of anonymity. .

However, if Rohit’s personal problem is resolved before the series, he will be available for the entire series, the source added. “In case the personal problem is resolved before the start of the series, I could play all five Tests. We will know more in the coming days.”

Abhimanyu Easwaran likely to be a cover for Rohit Sharma

Among the most consistent openers at the domestic level, Abhimanyu Easwaran is likely to replace Rohit Sharma in case he is not available for any part of the series. He will be in Australia at the same time with India A for the A tour and will also lead them.

Therefore, if required, he will come as cover and open the innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal Down Under. However, there is no confirmation on who will lead the team in the absence of Rohit Sharma.
