Star players to be dropped as Pakistan Test squad revamped ahead of Bangladesh series

Pakistan national cricket team is all set to take on Bangladesh national cricket team in the two-match Test series in August this month. According to Cricket Pakistan reports, it has been learnt that there will be massive changes in the Shan Masood-led team.

According to reports, the Pakistan Cricket Board will announce the squad soon after consulting with head coach Jason Gillespie, who will be returning to Pakistan soon. The coach is currently with the Pakistan Shaheens teams in Darwin and will return soon.

Jason Gillespie is the coach of Pakistan Shaheens, who will take on Bangladesh A. He is expected to return to Pakistan after the second four-day match between the two teams. After his arrival in Pakistan, important discussions will take place regarding the team, which is expected to feature major changes from the last series.

According to reports, it is learnt that some of the key players will be dropped from the squad due to their poor form and fitness issues. Players like Faheem Ashraf, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Saim Ayub and Nauman Ali are unlikely to retain their place in the squad for the two-match Test series.

Apart from this, it is also learnt that young players Mohammad Huraira and Sahibzada Farhan are likely to be included in the squad. Senior opener Imam-Ul-Haq has also come under a lot of criticism for his poor form, and discussions are going on regarding his place in the team.

Discussions are also underway to include Aamer Jamal and Hasan Ali in the squad for the two Test matches against Bangladesh. The duo have been battling injuries and the final decision regarding their inclusion in the squad will be taken after their fitness assessments.

Ahead of the Test series against Bangladesh, Pakistan will hold a training camp in the second week of August. This will be the first time since January that Test cricket will be played in Pakistan as Australia toured last time.

Shan Masood would be keen to make an impact as a Test captain. He would be keen to bring smiles on the faces of the fans after the tough last few months. Pakistan’s white-ball team has been going through a horrible time under the leadership of Babar Azam for the past few months. They recently faced an early elimination from the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and faced a lot of criticism.

On the other hand, Shan Masood would be keen to make a mark in basketball. This will be Shan Masood’s second assignment after being named captain last year. He first led the team against Australia in a three-Test series which Pakistan lost 3-0 in Australia. But now that he is playing at home, he will have a great chance to register his first win.
