The DRS has been a major talking point in the IND vs ENG test series. England captain Ben Stokes has criticized the referee’s decision on ball tracking technology and wants it removed. There was a lot of debate surrounding Zak Crawley’s LBW decision during the Rajkot Test match. However, the umpire had given it, Crawley had reviewed the decision, although, as the ball clipped the stumps, the decision was ruled out.
Former Australian cricketer Brad Hogg argues that the umpire’s decision should be confirmed when using DRS because the technology has a margin of error that can be mitigated by the human factor.
Brad Hogg criticizes Ben Stokes’ approach to referee’s decision
Brad Hogg, while speaking on his YouTube channel, spoke about his verdict on the referee’s decision and also gave his opinion on Ben Stokes’ comments regarding the same. Hogg said: “For me, the more I think about it, the more I feel like the referee’s decision should be there because the technology is a little bit wrong. I understand it could have cost England at some important point, but it could also cost the opposition. Stop complaining about DRS. “It’s the same for both sides.”
ben stokes he believes that there will be no umpire’s decision in the decision review system and believes that if the ball hits the stumps then it should be out. However, many cricket experts argue that DRS is a technology and there can be a mistake in it, so there will be an umpire’s decision in DRS.
The fourth game of IND vs ENG The test series is scheduled for the CEJA stadium in Ranchi. Both squads arrived at the field and began training. While KL Rahul remains injured, Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out for the fourth Test.
In the third Test match, the Indian team resolved most of their concerns and almost all the players in the team performed admirably. India will be full of confidence after their huge 434-run victory over the Three Lions and will want to win the series in Ranchi.
England, on the other hand, needs to address a lot of things. The Three Lions have been reliant on the performance of individual players, while big names like Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow have also been unable to perform to their abilities.
Ben Stokes has only been able to perform with the bat and is yet to bowl in the series. Furthermore, the bowling line-up including James Anderson and Mark Wood has failed in the ongoing series. Anderson made many runs during the Rajkot Test, however, the team management did not replace him in the fourth Test. England signed Ollie Robinson in place of Mark Wood, while Rehan Ahmed was left out of the squad and Shoaib Bashir found a place in the team.
India would aim to win the series in Ranchi and also strengthen their place in the 2023-25 World Test Championship standings.
