Struggling Rohit Sharma’s middle stump is uprooted by a net bowler and he is dismissed twice: Report

All eyes will be on Rohit Sharma as he leads Team India in the third Test of the ongoing five-match series against England. The much-awaited third Test of the series is scheduled to be played from Thursday (February 15) in Rajkot.

The five-match series is currently locked at 1-1 and the platform is set for a mouth-watering contest in Rajkot. England stunned India by 28 runs in the first Test to take the lead in the series before the hosts bowled out the visitors for 106 runs in the second game to draw level. Both teams will be desperate to take advantage in the series by winning the next game.

Rohit Sharma will have his work cut out for him in the next game. The Indian captain is yet to fire in the series and will be desperate to get some runs in Rajkot. In the first Test in Hyderabad, he got the wickets in both innings, but failed to make them count as he scored 24 and 39. In the second Test, he failed in both innings, recording scores of 14 and 13.

Rohit Sharma fights in the nets:

Ahead of the third Test, Rohit Sharma struggled with his batting in the nets, according to a report in The Indian Express. The media outlet stated that the veteran opener was harassed by a net bowler while he was practicing for the crucial game.

According to the report, the Indian star found the bowler difficult to handle and was dismissed twice in consecutive deliveries. He was first beaten by a strong swinger, a delivery he has always worried about early in the innings. The inswinging delivery took away his middle stump. On the next delivery, he ended up beating a very swinging delivery.

With India missing some key players for the third Test, Rohit Sharma will have his work cut out for him. Players like Virat Kohli and KL Rahul are unavailable for the game, while Shreyas Iyer has also been dropped. In the absence of the senior batsmen, the onus will fall on Rohit Sharma to lead the team from the front.
