Former England players Stuart Broad and Michael Vaughan have questioned the dismissal of England batsman Ollie Pope for LBW. Pope was caught in front by Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj for 39 runs off 55 balls.

However, initially, the umpire did not give the out call and the Indian team had to send the call up. However, in the replay it was found that the ball hit the stumps and Pope had to walk back to the dressing room.

While former England captain Michael Vaughan expressed his disappointment at the DRS and felt that the ball could have and should have gone over the stumps. Likewise, former England pacer Stuart Broad stated that the decision was not correct and the ball was too high for getting three reds in DRS.

Michael Vaughan wrote: “That seemed high to me…”, while Stuart Broad wrote, citing Ollie Pope’s dismissal, “Seems high to me for 3 reds!”

England batsman Ben Duckett has put the visitors in charge of the third IND vs ENG Test match being played in Rajkot. Duckett, who is currently unbeaten on 133 runs, scored a brilliant hundred and launched a brilliant counter-attack against the Indian bowlers. Duckett added necessary runs with Zak Crawley and Ollie Pope, helping England finish Day 2 on 207/2 in 35 overs. Ben Duckett has ensured that England’s run rate does not drop below five, and they are currently scoring runs at 5.91 per over.

Earlier, India quickly lost their overnight batsmen Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav on Day 2 and could only add five runs to their score. Jadeja departed for 112 while Kuldeep returned for 4 runs. Dhruv Jurel and Ravichandran Ashwin started to show some grace after the fall of two quick wickets. Both batsmen smashed 77 runs off 175 balls for the eighth wicket and ensured India crossed the 400-run mark.

Dhruv Jurel got out after scoring 46 runs off 104 balls and smashed 2 fours and 3 sixes during his stay at the crease. Ravichandran Ashwin, on the other hand, contributed 37 runs off 89 balls, while Jasprit Bumrah made a cameo of 26 runs off 28 balls.

England’s opening pair, Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley, scored 89 runs for the first wicket to get England off to a respectable start. Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin got rid of Crawley, who scored 15 runs off 28 balls. This was Ashwin’s 500th Test wicket and he became the second-fastest bowler to reach the mark.

On the other hand, Ben Duckett had an aggressive game plan and scored a century off 88 balls. Furthermore, he set a record for the fastest English batsman to reach 100 on Indian soil. Apart from building a respectable first-wicket partnership, Duckett took the second wicket with 93 runs off 102 balls. Pope was performing admirably but Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj pipped him to 39 runs off 55 balls.

England would also like to continue their aggressive mindset on Day 3 and will ensure they overcome India’s first innings score as quickly as possible. India would try to remove Duckett in the early hours of Day 3.
