Suresh Raina reveals top 5 IPL knocks; KKR batsmen’s knock ranks at the top

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) legend Suresh Raina has picked his top five innings of all time in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Suresh Raina named four Indian players, including himself, and added that a Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batsman played the best knock in IPL history.

The Indian Premier League has witnessed the world’s best cricketers and high-quality cricket throughout its 17 seasons.

Suresh Raina is one of the best players in the history of the IPL. The former left-handed batsman was nicknamed ‘Mr. IPL’ for his consistency with the bat in his initial years in the IPL.

Suresh Raina calls Rinku Singh’s knock the biggest in IPL history

In an interaction on YouTube channel 2 Sloggers, Suresh Raina was asked to list his top five knocks in IPL history.

Raina rated his innings as the fifth-best. He picked his 87 runs off just 25 deliveries against the Punjab Kings (formerly KXIP) in the second IPL 2024 qualifier.

The 37-year-old named Rinku Singh’s extraordinary performance against Gujarat Titans in IPL 2023 as the greatest knock of all time.

Singh hit five consecutive sixes off the last five balls of the game. The left-handed batsman guided the Kolkata Knight Riders to a victory after a loss.

Suresh Raina includes MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli in his list of elite batsmen

Suresh Raina ranked MS Dhoni third on his all-time list. MS Dhoni scored 54 runs in 29 balls against the Punjab Kings (formerly KXIP) during the 2010 IPL season.

Dhoni scored a half-century to help Chennai Super Kings qualify for the playoffs in a must-win game at Dharamshala.

Raina included Virat Kohli’s century among his top five IPL innings. Kohli scored a remarkable 113 off 50 balls against the Punjab Kings during the 2016 IPL season.

The right-handed batsman scored an exceptional century for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in a rain-hit 15-overs match.

Suresh Raina selects non-Indian player Chris Gayle Sone

The only non-Indian player selected by Raina was West Indies legend Chris Gayle. Gayle scored a stunning knock of 175 off 66 balls against the Pune Warriors in the 2013 IPL.

It is worth mentioning that it remains the highest individual score in both the Indian Premier League and T20 cricket.

Suresh Raina played in the IPL from its inception in 2008 until 2021, except for the 2020 season. He represented the Super Kings and Gujarat Lions during his career.

Raina scored 5,528 runs in 205 matches at an average of 32.51 and a strike rate of 136.73, including one century and 39 fifties.
