‘Surya Muralitharan, Rinku Kumble’: Twitter erupts as India win in absolute thriller against Sri Lanka in third T20I and record landslide victory

Fans on Twitter reacted after India managed to win the last game of the three-match series against Sri Lanka. They won the last game of the series in the super over at the Pallekele International Stadium, Pallekele, and completed a 3-0 thrashing.

Asked to bat, India did not get off to the start they would have wished for as Yashasvi Jaiswal lost ten runs. The left-hander’s wicket led to the collapse of the Indian team, who quickly lost several wickets.

The visitors were reeling at 48 runs for five, with all the strong batsmen back in the dugout. It was Shubman Gill (39) and Riyan Parag (26) who joined forces and then got the team out of trouble with their 54-run stand, putting the pressure back on the Sri Lankan bowlers.

After the duo got out, Washington Sundar (25) ensured that India finished the innings as they finished with a total of 137 for nine. For Sri Lanka, Maheesh Theekshana was the pick of the bowlers with his figures of three for 28, while Wanindu Hasaranga took two scalps.

Sri Lanka got off to a solid start with the bat in the chase. Pathum Nissanka (26) and Kusal Mendis (43) added 58 runs for the opening pair. After the right-hander departed, Kusal Perera (46) joined Mendis as they wrought more carnage, adding 52 runs for the second wicket.

India staged a slight comeback by quickly picking up wickets at the end and putting Sri Lanka under pressure. Rinku Singh picked up two wickets in the penultimate over to tilt the game in his team’s favour. With six runs needed in the final over, captain Suryakumar Yadav came forward and picked up two wickets in two balls.

He then did a brilliant job with the ball as he ensured that his team did not lose and the match went into a super over. In the super over, India finished off Sri Lanka’s innings with just two runs and then chased down the target in one ball to win the game and complete a 3-0 whitewash.
