India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav is not only a dashing batsman but also a useful bowler. His ball skills were on display in the last T20I that India played, against Sri Lanka in Pallekele.
In that game, Suryakumar Yadav bowled the last over of the match and hosts Sri Lanka needed just 6 runs to win. Surprisingly, the 34-year-old successfully defended the runs and the match ended in a draw. India later won the Super Over and clinched the series 3-0.
But will Suryakumar Yadav bowl again in the upcoming series against Bangladesh? It’s a great question. But the man himself gave a lighthearted answer to that question and also revealed why he chose to bowl in the T20I against Sri Lanka.

Will Suryakumar Yadav bowl in the T20I against Bangladesh?
While speaking on the eve of the first T20I between India and Bangladesh in Gwalior, Suryakumar Yadav himself revealed whether he would bowl again in this series or not. He hoped the situation wouldn’t get to that point to force him to bowl.
The India captain also revealed why he went on the attack against Sri Lanka despite some of the overs left by the frontline bowlers.
“Hopefully, it won’t come to that (smiles). But yes, we enjoyed it. We were 2-0 up in the series, but at the same time we thought of doing something different. We had a few overs left. from the fast bowlers, but I wanted to do something different at that time because the wicket was turning. I just took a chance and it worked out really well.” Suryakumar said.
‘It gives you options’ – Suryakumar Yadav on batsmen bowling a few overs
The Indian captain also spoke about the importance of batsmen getting a few overs in the middle. Surya feels that there are many players in the team currently who can bowl a few overs along with their batting. He gave the example of Riyan Parag as a batsman who knows how to bowl.
“It’s good that the batsmen can bowl one or two overs. In this team, I think hardly anyone doesn’t bowl a bit. That gives you options. As you saw in Sri Lanka, Riyan (Parag) bowled four overs. “If anyone he has the skills to bowl in a pressure situation, so this is the platform,” Suryakumar said.
What happened when Suryakumar Yadav bowled last time?
In the final T20I, India scored 137-9 in 20 overs. Sri Lanka, who needed 138 to win, got off to a bright start and went on to reach 110-1. The situation was under control for the home team even in the last two overs, when they needed 9 for 12 with 6 wickets in hand.
Surprisingly, Rinku Singh bowled the penultimate over and picked up two wickets for three runs. Suryakumar completed the formalities by bowling another excellent over. He also picked up two wickets in the over.
In the Super Over, Sri Lanka lost both wickets by just 2 runs. Fittingly, Suryakumar Yadav got the winning runs for India by smashing the first ball of the Super Over for a boundary.
