Indian stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav is ruled out of international cricket due to an ankle injury until February 2024, according to Indian Express reports. It is a Grade II ankle that the team has suffered from SKY and is expected to be out of action for seven weeks.

SKY led India to a T20I series victory against Australia first and then against South Africa. He was part of India’s World Cup team but could not deliver any impactful performance. However, he returned to his best in T20I cricket with match-winning performances against Australia and South Africa. The injury means Surya is likely to miss the India vs Afghanistan T20I series at home starting January 11.
