India national T20I cricket team captain Suryakumar Yadav will miss the first round of the Duleep Trophy 2024. According to TOI reports, it is learnt that the batsman will miss the first round of the tournament due to the hand injury he suffered in the Buchi Babu tournament.

Suryakumar Yadav suffered a hand injury during the match against Tamil Nadu Cricket Association XI. The batsman got hurt while trying to catch the ball at leg slip and seemed to be in immense pain after the hit. He was taken off the field and did not re-enter later.

Suryakumar Yadav also did not come out to bat due to the injury. Latest reports claim that the batsman has moved to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for rehabilitation.

Suryakumar Yadav did not have a great performance with the bat in the Buchi Babu tournament match against the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association XI. He scored 30 runs in the first innings and missed the chance to bat in the second innings due to injury.

Suryakumar recently expressed his desire to make a comeback in the Indian Test team. However, the injury sustained in the Buchi Babu tournament has made things difficult for him. The batsman played one match for the team in the Test and did not put in a great performance, but after that, he was dropped from the team.

With the Indian national cricket team scheduled to play 10 Tests, the 2024 Duleep Trophy would have been a great opportunity for him to make a comeback. However, he would now be keen to recover from the injury soon and get back to pushing himself to keep his hopes of returning to Tests alive.

Suryakumar Yadav’s absence will leave a big void in India C squad for Duleep Trophy 2024

Suryakumar has been named in the India C squad for the Duleep Trophy 2024. His absence will certainly leave a huge void in the team with the first match of the tournament just around the corner. It will also be a headache for the team management to look for a player who can take his place and help the team win the match.

India C will open their campaign against India D at Ananthpur. On the other hand, India A will take on India B in the other match of the first round at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The selection committee will reportedly oversee both the matches while finalising the squad for the upcoming series against Bangladesh.

Suryakumar was also recently named as the Indian captain of the T20I team. He was appointed as the captain of the team after Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from the shortest format of the game after leading the team to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup. It remains to be seen how long it will take for the batter to recover.
