T20 World Cup 2024: Mohammad Kaif issues ‘last chance’ warning to Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli ahead of T20 World Cup

Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif made a massive statement about Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. He said that the tournament would be the last chance for the two greats of the game to get their chance to win the qualification.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been the backbone of the Indian team for over the last decade. The duo has taken the team to great heights in all three formats of the game and has achieved almost everything in their career, scoring a lot of runs for the team together.

However, both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli would like to add the World Cup to their kit. Both Team India stalwarts have faced quite a few heartbreaks together and hope to turn their fortunes around and lift the trophy together.

The upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 will be a great opportunity to lift the title together. The last time India lifted the ICC trophy was in 2013 when they won the Champions Trophy. At that time, both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were young.

However, now, a decade later, when both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have become greats of the game, they would be eager to lift the title. The T20 World Cup 2024 will begin from June 1 and will be a great opportunity to end the title drought.

Mohammad Kaif claimed that both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli know that they will not play for long. Therefore, it will be the last chance for the duo to win big. He also highlighted how they lost the ICC World Cup 2023 at home. Speaking to Star Sports, he explained:

“Rohit Sharma knows he won’t play for long. Just two or three more years. Same with Virat Kohli. So this is the last chance for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

“They lost the World Cup final in Ahmedabad. They played as if the cup had been taken from them. “Hearts were broken and fans were devastated.”

This is the biggest test for Rohit Sharma – Mohammad Kaif in semi-finals and final

Mohammad Kaif further pointed out that India will reach the big stage because they have no competition in the group stage. He expressed his concern saying that India needs to be prepared for the big games. He added:

“India hardly has any competition in the group stage. There are only two main matches: the semi-final and the final. Are you ready for those two days? That is the biggest test for Rohit Sharma.”

India will play their warm-up match on June 1 against Bangladesh. They will open their campaign against Ireland on June 5 in the T20 World Cup 2024. After that, the biggest clash awaits them as they will take on Pakistan. The game will be played on June 9 in New York.
