Indian National Cricket Team’s veteran left-handed batsman Shikhar Dhawan has given his honest verdict on the selection of batsmen Shivam Dube and Sanju Samson as well as player Yuzvendra Chahal in the 15-man squad for the men’s World Cup ICC T20 2024.

With their incredible performances, Yuzvendra Chahal, Shivam Dube and Sanju Samson forced the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selection committee to pick them in the World Cup squad.

Yuzvendra Chahal, despite being India’s highest wicket-taker in T20I history, was constantly ignored by the team management and the selection committee. However, that changed when the selection panel headed by Ajit Agarkar decided to include him in the 15-man squad for the World Cup. Chahal is among the 4 spinners India have in the team, along with Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja.

Talking about Sanju Samson, he was also not India’s first choice for the World Cup as India had their eye on Jitesh Sharma to bat in the lower order but a sudden drop in the Punjab Kings star’s form to accompany Sanju Samson. The sensational IPL 2024 season led to him being selected for the T20 World Cup. Samson will battle with Rishabh Pant for a place in the World Cup playing XI.

Finally, talking about Shivam Dube, the left-handed batsman was given a ticket to the World Cup due to the hitting power he displayed in the Indian Premier League and the Indian national cricket team. He overtook Rinku Singh to make a place for himself in the side.

It’s great to see players like Shivam Dube… – Shikhar Dhawan

In a recent interaction with TOI, Shikhar Dhawan spoke about India’s World Cup squad. Delivering his verdict on the selection of Dube, Chahal and Samson, Shikhar Dhawan said the trio deserved to be in the team.

“It’s fantastic to see players like Shivam Dube, Yuzi (Yuzvendra Chahal) and Sanju (Samson) get their well-deserved places in the ICC tournament and we have a very balanced team and we were able to play very good cricket. Good luck Team India and All support,” Dhawan told The Times of India.

Shikhar Dhawan also said that the Indian players participating in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 will be under pressure to deliver for the team.

“Of course, there is a lot of pressure playing for India in World Cups and Rohit is an experienced guy. I am sure his experience will come in handy, he knows how to absorb the pressure and India will definitely come out on top.” “Dhawan said

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 will be jointly hosted by the West Indies and the United States of America from June 1 to 29. It will be the ninth edition of the T20 World Cup organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and will also be the first time that 20 teams will participate in the competition.
