Fans on Twitter reacted after India advanced to the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. They defeated defending champions England by 68 runs in the semi-final 2 of the tournament, which took place at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.
Asked to bat, India did not get off to a great start to the innings. The poor run with the bat continued for Virat Kohli, who lost by nine runs. Soon after his wicket, Rishabh Pant also fell and the Men in Blue were reduced to 40 for two.
However, after that, captain Rohit Sharma (57) stepped up for his team in difficult circumstances. Suryakumar Yadav (47) supported him well and the duo shared 73 runs for the third wicket.
England made a slight comeback by picking wickets quickly. But the final over of Hardik Pandya (23), Ravindra Jadeja (17*) propelled India to a total of 171/7. For the defending champions, Chris Jordan picked three wickets, while the rest of the players apart from Liam Livingstone picked one wicket each.
England started the chase well enough when captain Jos Buttler (23) played attacking shots. But the introduction of spinners changed the fortunes of the defending champions, who were soon left behind.
Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav combined to wreak havoc on the English batting line-up. Both bowlers took three wickets each and made the batsmen look disoriented as India bowled out the opposition for 103. careers inside 17 overs to win the game by 68 and reach the final of the tournament.
