Cricket Hong Kong has confirmed Team India’s participation in the Hong Kong Sixes this year. The traditional tournament is returning after a seven-year gap. The last edition of the tournament was played in 2017,

Hong Kong Sixes is a six-team international cricket tournament sanctioned by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and organized by Cricket Hong Kong. The first edition of the tournament was played back in 1993.

HK6 caught the attention of cricket fans due to its unique format and high scoring matches. The rules of the competition make the games high scoring. One of the rules is that all players (except the goalkeeper) must throw one.

Some of the biggest names in world cricket have plied their trade in the Hong Kong Sixes in the past. Players like Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Shane Warne, MS Dhoni, Wasim Akram, Shoaib Malik and Glenn Maxwell have played in the tournament in the past.

South Africa, England and Pakistan are the most successful teams and each of them has won the title five times. The Proteas’ most recent victory was in 2017 when they defeated Pakistan in the final. Other countries that have won the tournament include Sri Lanka, Australia, the West Indies and India.

To date, a total of 18 editions of the competition have been held. England won the inaugural edition in 1992, while South Africa won the last edition in 2017. England and South Africa are also the most successful teams in the tournament, each having won the tournament five times so far.

India in Hong Kong Sixes:

This year’s Hong Kong Sixes will be played from November 1 to 3 at the Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground. The tournament will have a total of 12 teams. One of those teams will be India. Cricket Hong Kong confirmed India’s participation on Monday (October 7).

In

India has won the tournament once so far. They won the tournament in 2005 with a 4-wicket victory over the West Indies in the final. Former India all-rounder Robin Singh led the team during the victorious campaign.

In addition to India, Australia, Bangladesh, England, Hong Kong, Nepal, New Zealand, Oman, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates will participate in Hong Kong Sixes 2024.
