Saba Karim supports Easwaran for the test opening role

Saba Karim, who was part of the selection committee of older men in India from 2012 to 2016, shared his thoughts in an interview with Sportskeeda. He believes that Abhimanyu Easwaran should be chosen to open entries for India. According to him, Easwaran has been in the domestic circuit for many years, has a solid technique, keeps the score marking when the strike turns and is also able to play attractive shots. Karim feels that these qualities are ideal for a test starter.

He also mentioned that combining Easwaran with Yashavi Jaiswal would give India a strong left -left opening combination to the right. Karim urged the selectors and the team’s management to trust Easwaran, since he is confident that the batter can work well internationally.

“I want Abhimanyu Easwaran to open the tickets for India. He has been present for so many years, he is technically a very correct batter, he is an busy player, he can rotate the strike, and we can also play some good shots. And in my opinion, you need an opening hitter like this. Together with Yashavi Jaiswal, we can have a combination of the right left of the solid left in the upper part.

“Then, the selectors and the team’s management must trust him with that type of responsibility for the team. I am sure he is able to do it well for India,” said Saba Karim.

Easwaran is still an option, but only as a starter

The former Sarandeep Singh, former Spinner and former selector from India, wants the current selection panel to make a complete use of the excellent recent form of Sai Sudharsan. He feels that Abhimanyu Easwaran should have been chosen a couple of years ago when he was scoring a lot, but now he hasn’t played much.

In Sarandeep’s opinion, Sai Sudharsan should open tickets with Yashavi Jaiswal. While Easwaran can still be included in the team, he thinks Sudharsan is the best option at this time. He also noted that Easwaran is more a specialized starter and does not fit well in other positions in the batting order.

“Abhimanyu Easwaran should have played a couple of years ago, when he was scoring many races. He has not played too late. If you asked me, I would go to Sai Sudharsan with Yashavi Jaiswal. It can have Abhimanyu Easwaran in 15. But if we compare it with Sai Sudharsan, Easwaran cannot bat in any other place other than an openeke.
