Former England cricketer Michael Vaughan was unhappy with the scheduling of the T20I series between India and Australia. He said that both teams should not have played since they recently competed in the ICC World Cup 2023.

India and Australia are currently facing each other in the five-match T20I series. What was surprising was that the series started a few days after the ICC World Cup 2023 concluded. Both teams played the final of the tournament and returned to action after four days.

Although India fielded a completely different team in the series, the Australian team had quite a few members of the World Cup squad. The players looked absolutely tired and the governing bodies of both nations also received a lot of criticism for the timing of the series.

Not even Australian player Mitchell Marsh was surprised. He said that his team did not have the opportunity to celebrate the World Cup because they had to prepare for the next series. He also stated that it was a grueling campaign and it would have been nice if the players had more time to spend with their families before playing.

Recently, Michael Vaughan took to his X account and talked about the series. He criticized the schedule of the games, stating that it is the most ridiculous series. He wrote:

“The most ridiculous series…None of them should have been playing.”

IND vs AUS: India leads five-match T20I series 3-1

India has already sealed the five-match series 3-1 and the last match will currently be played in Bengaluru. The young team led by Suryakumar Yadav has been fantastic. They put up an exceptional performance in the first game as they scored a mammoth total of 209 runs, which is India’s highest in T20Is.

In the second game, they cruised to a 44-run win and after posting 235 runs, restricted Australia to just 191 runs. Australia, however, made a stunning comeback in the third and ensured that the series stayed alive. They chased a mammoth total of 223 runs with 5 wickets in hand. The Men in Blue then defeated Australia in Raipur by 20 runs to take an unassailable lead.
