Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh spoke about the lively discussions he had with Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah during matches. He said that both of them are legends of the game and revealed that he shares his ideas with them and asks them whether he implements them or not.
India off-spinner Arshdeep Singh was one of the shining lights behind the team’s triumph at the 2024 T20 World Cup. The left-arm spinner bowled brilliantly throughout the tournament and turned out to be a real wicket-taker for the team in the tournament, helping them to be on top with the ball.
Arshdeep Singh was assigned the role of bowling with a new ball and that too at the last moment. The fast bowler repaid the management’s confidence and ensured that he took wickets at crucial moments of the game and helped the team to be on top in pressure situations in the tournament.
Arshdeep Singh put in a magical performance for India in the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2024. The fast bowler finished the tournament as India’s leading wicket-taker with 17 wickets to his name. His sensational performance enabled India to win the ICC tournament after 11 years.
During an interaction with Sportstar, Arshdeep Singh was asked about his lively discussions with Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah at the end. The left-hander claimed that both the legends of the game guide him and shedding light on the issue, he stated:
“Rohit bhai and Jassi bhai are legends of the game. They have dominated the international arena for a long time. Whenever I have a point of view, I ask them if I can implement it. They make sure that my suggestions are taken into consideration and the pitch is prepared accordingly. That helps me focus on the job at hand. As a batsman, Rohit bhai understands what are the areas that concern the batting unit, so he suggests a thing or two in terms of how to bowl an over and such small things matter at the decisive moments.
“Jassi bhai is a unique bowler with a different way of bowling, so things that work for him may not work for others, but he makes sure to guide me on how to adjust the bounce and even suggests areas where the ball will turn quicker. During the World Cup, he told me not to try to swing at first because on such surfaces the ball will not move much, so it was better to hit the hard lengths.”

Arshdeep Singh further spoke about the suggestions Jasprit Bumrah gives him and hilariously joked that being young, he sometimes disagrees with what the veteran says. He mentioned that he later realised that if he had listened to what Bumrah said, that would have worked.
“He keeps telling me such things throughout the match and our discussions often get lively because apna bhi toh young khoon hai, so sometimes, hum bhi disgree kar jatein hain un ke saath (I am young, so sometimes, I don’t agree with him) he laughs). But later, I realised that the suggestions given by Jassi bhai would have really worked if I had listened to him. And I learn from my mistakes and try to improve,” he concluded.
