Three changes India could make for the third Test against Australia after the defeat in Adelaide

The next test is not far away and India will have to get over this loss quickly and focus on the next one.

India suffered a tough 10-wicket defeat against Australia in the Adelaide Test, following which the team has come under intense scrutiny. Rohit Sharma’s tactics and personal form have been a major issue and have come under fire.

However, the next test is not far away and India will have to get over this loss quickly and focus on the next one. Big changes are expected during the third Test and India need to put some things right.

We look at three changes India could make after the defeat in Adelaide.

Rohit Sharma returns to the top

The move of batting in the middle order did not work well for Rohit Sharma, who looked out to sea in both the innings. Therefore, the team could reorganize it to first place, where its best performances have come.

Meanwhile, KL Rahul should return to the middle order and stabilize the innings from there as that is where he is best suited. That will mean that each batsman will get his original position and no one will leave the spot.

Washington Sundar returns for Ravichandran Ashwin

While Ravichandran Ashwin played well in the day-night Test, Rohit did not use him properly in the game. Anyway, the team could look to bring back Washington Sundar instead of Ravichandran Ashwin for multiple reasons.

Firstly, Sundar offers better batting value and will be more equipped to handle the Australian quicks in Brisbane’s fast deck. Additionally, his bowling has improved immensely and he uses the pitch to his advantage by imparting more overspin.

Harshit Rana outside, Akash inside

Ideally, India would have wanted the services of Mohammed Shami at this stage, but Rohit confirmed that his knees became swollen while bowling in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, making his inclusion unlikely. Harshit Rana was very expensive and seemed apathetic when he was attacked during the second Test.

Therefore, the team could include Akash Deep in the third Test while Harshit will warm the bench. Akash will get significant help from the deck as his ball passes quickly and can rush the opponent’s batsman.
