The Indian national cricket team is all set to take on the Bangladesh national cricket team in the two-match Test series later this month. Both the matches will be part of the ICC World Test Championship and will be crucial for both teams in the context of reaching the final.

The Test series between India and Bangladesh will begin on September 19. The first match of the series between the teams will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai and then the second match will be played from September 27 in Kanpur.

The two teams will meet for the first time in a test since December 2022. The last time both teams met in the Test series was the Indian National Cricket Team who won the series in Bangladesh which was a very close series for them.

The Rohit Sharma-led team is at the top of the World Test Championship points table as they have been performing sensationally in the current cycle. In the last series against England, the Rohit Sharma-led team dominated the series by a 4-1 margin and played some brilliant cricket.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, are riding high on confidence, especially after what they did in Pakistan. The Najmul Hossain Shanto-led side whitewashed the hosts in the two-match series and would be keen to achieve something similar in the Indian Tests.

Umpires revealed for India vs Bangladesh Test series

With the IND vs BAN Test series set to begin just a few days ago, the umpires for the two matches have been revealed. As per reports in the Times of India, it has been learnt that Rod Tucker and Richard Kettleborough will be umpiring in the first Test in Chennai. Meanwhile, IIn the second Test between the teams to be played in Kanpur, Richard Kettleborough along with Chris Brown will be on-field umpires.

The Indian squad for the series against Bangladesh is expected to be announced soon. Rohit Sharma is likely to lead the team while Jasprit Bumrah will be his vice-captain. The team is unlikely to undergo any major changes and the players who played in the previous series will be backed.

There were reports claiming that Rishabh Pant would be making a comeback in the team. This will be the first time that he will be playing the longest format of the game since December 2022. After that, he met with an accident and was then out of action for a while.

Jasprit Bumrah is expected to be the front-line player along with Mohammed Siraj. While there were reports claiming that there would be a tussle between Arshdeep Singh and Akash Deep for the third front-line player in the squad for the two-match Test series. The two games against the Bangladesh team will mark the beginning of the Test season for the team.

After the series against Bangladesh, the team will take on New Zealand in a three-match series. Further, after that, they will travel to Australia for the five-match Test series.
