Virat Kohli silences the crowd by putting a finger on his lips after taking a good catch at slip [WATCH]

Kohli immediately put a finger to his lips and looked towards the Australian crowd, which was wild and rowdy.

Virat Kohli silenced the crowd after taking a strong catch off the bowling of Nitish Kumar Reddy to dismiss Marnus Labuschagne in the second delivery of the 34th over. It was pure aggression from Kohli, who got fired up after taking a good catch.

Nitish Kumar Reddy bowled a longer delivery outside the line of stump, to which Labuschagne attempted a flashy drive but could only get a thick outside edge. Kohli immediately flew to his right and took a sharp catch to send the batsman backwards as the fielder perked up.

Kohli immediately put a finger to his lips and looked towards the Australian crowd, which was wild and rowdy. He asked them to remain silent as India had taken a huge piece of land and returned it to the Australians.

He had also previously caught Nathan McSweeney well and was in the game from the start. Australia usually brings out the best in Kohli, and the team would want him to be loaded as that will also enable him to deliver excellent batting performances.

Steve Smith and Travis Head oppose the century

After losing the wicket of Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith and Travis Head steadied the ship and formed a fabulous partnership to get Australia back on track. As always, Head was the aggressor and put pressure on India again.

Meanwhile, Smith continued to struggle at times, but slowly found his rhythm as the two got back to their feet. Both the batsmen soon started playing their shots, and the left-hander completed another hundred to pile on the agony on the Indian team.

India wanted to keep the pressure on after Marnus Labuschagne’s wicket by dismissing a few more batsmen in quick succession, but that did not happen. Australia are in the driving seat and aiming for a big score as India continue to hunt for wickets.

To come back, India would need a flurry of wickets to keep Australia in check. At the moment, Australia look set to knock India out of the game by posting a massive total on the board in the first innings.
