Former Indian cricketer Amit Mishra has picked the best batsman and leader among the two pioneers of Indian cricket – Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. He picked the current India captain better than Kohli in both aspects of the game.

Both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been the backbone of the Indian national cricket team for the past two decades. They have held the Indian batting line-up together and are the main reasons behind the team’s success in all three formats of the game.

Undoubtedly, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are the most accomplished batsmen in cricket and despite being in their 30s, they are still the heart and soul of the Indian batting line-up. The duo are also one of the most consistent batsmen and are considered legends of the game.

Over the years, many fans and experts have compared Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to see who among them is a better batsman. Amit Mishra also gave his opinion on the matter when he was asked to pick a better batsman between the two as he had bowled to both of them.

Amit Mishra backed Rohit Sharma and said that though he has dismissed the Indian captain several times, he is difficult to bowl to. In an interview to Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast, he said, “I think Rohit Sharma is better. I have dismissed him many times, but he is a better batsman.”

Amit Mishra was also asked to pick a better captain between Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. He opted for the 2024 T20 World Cup-winning captain.

Both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are among the best captains to have led the Indian national cricket team. Kohli had a different aura as a leader as he turned the team into a beast in extreme conditions and instilled a culture of fitness.

Under Virat Kohli’s leadership, India won their first Test series in Australia and showed the team how to win in overseas conditions. He also led the team to the Champions Trophy final in 2017, the semi-final of the 2019 ICC World Cup and the final of the ICC World Cup Test Championship in 2021.

On the other hand, Rohit Sharma brought an attacking approach to the team and taught the players to play with a fearless attitude. He guided the team to the semi-final of the 2022 T20 World Cup, the final of the 2023 World Cup and the final of the 2023 World Test Championship.

Rohit Sharma finally got his hands on the World Cup trophy as he led his team to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup. He joined Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni as captain to win the World Cup for India.

He also hit 32 fifties and had a career strike rate of 140.
