Watch: Andrew Tye Castles Matthew Short with unplayable delivery in BBL 2023-24 Knockout

Andrew Tye has brought out his best in the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) 2023-24 match between Perth Scorchers and Adelaide Strikers. The inter-team tie will take place at the Optus Stadium in Perth.

Perth Scorchers won the toss and elected to play first. They have been nothing short of exceptional in the game and have put immediate pressure on the Adelaide Strikers. They have bowled impeccable lines and lengths and have caused a lot of problems for the batsmen in a high-pressure game.

One of the biggest blows for the Adelaide Strikers came from pacer Andrew Tye. The fast bowler bowled Matthew Short with the peach and shook the opposition. The batsman has been racking up runs for fun in the ongoing BBL. However, this time he had no idea what to do.

During the first ball of the fifth over, Andrew Tye bowled a knuckleball that was full and headed towards Matthew Short. The ball hit the batter and the batter’s feet didn’t move anywhere. He brought the bat down very late but the ball rattled the stumps.

It’s fair to say that Andrew Tye was an absolute stopper to beat the batsman. With the kind of pitch he threw, any hitter could have gotten away with that. It was a much-needed wicket for the Perth Scorchers as Matthew Short could have proven dangerous.

Here is the video:

Matthew Short scored 13 runs off 13 balls and scored just one four in his innings. With their wicket, the Adelaide Strikers were left reeling at 26/2. Andrew Tye in his first spell was quite economical as he bowled two overs and conceded just 8 runs with an economy of just 4. He would hope to add more to his wickets column and help the team edge out the opposition for such a low score. as possible.

After Andrew Tye removes Matthew Short, Perth Scorchers pick wickets in an instant

After Andrew Tye removed Matthew Short, the Perth Scorchers were on top of the Adelaide Strikers. Cooper Connolly contributed and removed Thomas Kelly for just 6 runs. To make matters worse, Harry Nielsen was left with nothing, credit to the brilliance of Aaron Hardie.

With Adelaide Strikers reeling at 48/4, Jake Weatherland led the rescue charge and attempted to get his team out of trouble. He counterattacked the players and made some impressive shots. The batsman added to his half-century but he could not continue after that as Hardie sent him packing for 56 runs.

Aaron Hardie contributed again right after that, removing James Bazley for 4 runs. The Perth Scorchers have asserted their authority in the match and look like favorites to win the game. Aside from Lance Morris, every other player has contributed.

The onus will now fall on Ben Manenti and Henry Thorton to take Adelaide Strikers to the fighting total. If they have to fancy their chances of winning the game, the bowlers need to step up and show a similar type of performance to what the Perth Scorchers have done.
