On Sunday, July 8, India and Zimbabwe met in the second match of the five-T20I series. The Shuman Gill-led team beat the hosts by 100 runs and levelled the series.

India had lost the series opener by 13 runs before bouncing back in the second game with a thumping win. Captain Shubman Gill’s decision to bat first proved to be a wise one as India posted a mammoth total of 234 for 2 in the allotted 20 overs. The star of the show was opener Abhishek Sharma, who scored a sensational century off 46 balls.

The left-handed batsman, who was dismissed for a duck on debut in the first T20I, announced his arrival in international cricket in style. He smashed 7 fours and 8 sixes during his knock to lay the foundation for the big total. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rinku Singh then helped India finish the innings strongly. Gaikwad scored 77 off 47 balls while Rinku hit 48 off just 22.

In reply, Zimbabwe did not seem capable of challenging India and were eventually bowled out for a modest total of 134 runs. Opener Wessly Madhevere was the top scorer for the home side, with 43 runs. For India, Mukesh Kumar and Avesh Kumar impressed with the ball, picking up 2 wickets each.

During the game, a hilarious incident involving Ravi Bishnoi also occurred. The incident occurred during the ninth over of Zimbabwe’s innings, when the leg-spinner was bowling towards Johnathan Campbell.

Ravi Bishnoi bowled a ball that flew outside leg and the Zimbabwean batsman attempted a reverse sweep but failed to connect with the ball properly. The umpire surprisingly ruled that it was a ball that had gone wide but changed his decision immediately after Bishnoi turned around and questioned the decision. Both the bowler and the umpire were seen smiling after the comical incident.

Watch the umpire change his decision after Ravi Bishnoi complains:

Talking about Bishnoi’s performance, the young bowler impressed once again. He took 2 wickets and conceded just 11 runs in his 4 overs. In the first game, he had taken 4 wickets while conceding 13 runs in 4 overs and had also bowled two maiden overs. The third game of the series will be held on Wednesday (July 10).
