Sri Lanka national cricket team fast bowler Asitha Fernando has been bowling sensationally well in the ongoing match against the England national cricket team. The first test match of the three-match series between the teams is currently underway at Old Trafford in Manchester.

After Sri Lanka’s national cricket team was bowled out for just 236 runs, they stood firm with the ball. Pacer Asitha Fernando has been the main reason behind that as she has been bowling sensationally well in the game and is keeping her team in contention.

Asitha Fernando drew first blood for her team when she removed Ben Duckett for just 18 runs by trapping him lbw.

However, after that, he made sure to contribute another wicket for his team as he sent England National Cricket Team captain Ollie Pope back to the hut.

The delivery with which Asitha Fernando dismissed Ollie Pope was brilliant. The England national cricket team captain had no clue about the Sri Lanka national cricket team pacer’s play as he made the long walk back to the pavilion without scoring any big runs for his team.

Asitha Fernando bowled a delivery that went backwards with force. Ollie Pope tried to defend the ball, but the ball went through his defences and ended up hitting the off stump. The English batsman looked dazed as he seemed to have no answers.

Ollie Pope did not have a great performance with the bat in his first game as captain of the England National Cricket Team.

The right-hander scored just 6 runs in 8 balls, and with his wicket, the team lost their second wicket quickly and were reduced to 40/2 in 9 overs.

After the Pope left, Vishwa Fernando made sure to support Asitha Fernando on the other end.

The pace bowler removed Dan Lawrence, who was playing as an opener for the first time. The all-rounder put in a good performance, but did not have the kind of innings he would have wanted.

Vishwa Fernando bowled a short ball away from the batsman. Dan Lawrence pushed it and Dinesh Chandimal caught it behind the stumps as the ball approached the boundary. The wicket-keeper batsman caught the ball short of his head and England lost three wickets quickly.

Dan Lawrence finished with 30 runs off 39 balls and hit three fours in his innings. England trailed at 67/3 after he got out. Now, the onus will be on Joe Root and Harry Brook to get the team out of trouble and overtake Sri Lanka’s first innings score.

Both Joe Root and Harry Brook have been in good form at the crease. They will be eager to continue their good form and help England get a big lead in the first innings.
