Sri Lankan pacer Asitha Fernando celebrated the wicket of India captain Suryakumar Yadav in animated fashion during the ongoing third T20I between the two teams at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
India were in a very tough situation when Suryakumar Yadav came out to bat on Tuesday (July 30). Asked to bat first, India lost the wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson and Rinku Singh in the first four overs. The onus was on the captain to bail the team out of trouble.
However, the star batsman failed to deliver the bat this time and was dismissed for 8 runs by Asitha Fernando in the last over of the powerplay. The Sri Lankan batsman set up a perfect trap for the right-handed batsman. Suryakumar loves to play the sweep shot and Asitha Fernando had Wanindu Hasaranga at fine leg for the same shot.
He bowled a ball outside the off-stump and Suryakumar ended up hitting the ball straight to Hasaranga. And as if the early dismissal wasn’t disappointing enough for Suryakumar Yadav, Asitha Fernando rubbed salt in the wound with her spirited celebration.
As soon as Hasaranga caught the ball, Asitha Fernando let out a roar before taking out WWE legend Triple H and his famous D generation X The stable’s “suck it” celebration to celebrate the big goal.

Talking about the game, India finished their innings on 137/9. The Men in Blue were trailing 48 for 5 at one stage before vice-captain Shubman Gill and Riyan Parag steadied the ship with a 52-run stand. And just when it seemed like the batsmen would pick up speed, they departed in quick succession to leave India trailing 105 for 7 off 102 for 5.
A superb 25-run performance from Washington Sundar helped India surpass the 130-run mark. Gill top-scored for India, with 39, while Parag scored 26. For Sri Lanka, Maheesh Theekshana took 3 wickets, while Hasaranga claimed two.
India have already secured the ongoing series by winning the first two matches. The visitors will look to put in a good bowling display to defend the modest total and complete a clean sweep.
