Arshdeep Singh has definitely enhanced his reputation as one of the best T20I bowlers in the world thanks to his heroics in the recently concluded ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

With Mohammed Shami sidelined due to injury, the onus was on Arshdeep Singh to take care of the ball as he partnered the ever-reliable Jasprit Bumrah and did not disappoint. In fact, he finished the tournament as the most wicket-takers as the Men in Blue went on to win the tournament.

The Rohit Sharma-led team beat South Africa by 7 runs in the final and won the T20 World Cup after a long gap of 17 years. India also became the third team after West Indies and England to win the T20 World Cup twice.

Arshdeep Singh played a huge role in the triumph. He performed well with the ball throughout the competition as he not only made crucial breakthroughs at different stages of the game but was also economical. He finished the tournament with 17 wickets in 8 games, including best figures of 4 wickets for 9 runs against the USA.

In the final against South Africa, Arshdeep conceded just 20 runs in his 4 overs and took 2 wickets. He also bowled the crucial 19th over when South Africa needed 20 runs and conceded just 4. Hardik Pandya defended 15 runs in the last over to propel India to a memorable victory.

Players have been welcomed as heroes wherever they have gone since landing in India and Arshdeep has received the same treatment. After the victory parade in Mumbai, the pacer landed in Mohali amidst huge fanfare.

And recently, he received a guard of honour from budding cricketers at the Jaswant Rai Academy. The Indian star visited the academy to resume his training and the young cricketers paid tribute to him with a touching gesture. The youngsters lined up on two sides and raised their bats in honour of the player.

Arshdeep Singh is likely to be seen in action later this month when Team India visits Sri Lanka for three ODIs and as many T20Is. The tour will begin with the T20I series. The three-match series will be played from July 27 to 30, while the ODIs will be played from August 2 to 7. Arshdeep is likely to be included in both squads for the tour.
