Australia women’s national cricket team all-rounder Ellyse Perry was involved in a bizarre dismissal during the match against the New Zealand women’s national cricket team. The second match of the three T20Is between the teams was held at the Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay.
Ellyse Perry played a good hand for her team and the way she was playing, it looked like she was going to take her team to the big total. The right-hander hit some accurate shots in her innings as the Australian was all set for a big knock.
However, Ellyse Perry fell at the crucial moment of the game. During the 12th over of Australia’s innings, Amelia Kerr bowled a full toss outside the leg stump towards which the batsman headed for a sweep shot. She was unable to keep her eyes on the ball as it moved forward.
Gaze, the wicket-keeper of the New Zealand women’s national cricket team, picked up the ball and knocked off the stumps. Ellyse Perry looked disoriented as there was no chance for the Australian women’s team to get back to the crease. She had to walk a long way to get back to the pavilion.

Ellyse Perry scored 34 runs in 33 balls, with four boundaries. With her wicket, the Australian National Women’s Cricket Team lost their third wicket and were left at 91/3. However, after her wicket, things did not go in their favour as they lost wickets quickly and were under pressure.
The New Zealand National Women’s Cricket Team bowlers were all over the place and bowled out Australia by 142 runs. Amelia Kerr was the best bowler as she picked up four wickets and returned with figures of 4/20 in her 4 overs and had an economy of 5 in her spell.
Apart from her, Brooke Halliday took two wickets, while Eden Carson, Fran Jonas and Lea Tahuhu got one wicket each. Their astonishing efforts with the ball enabled the New Zealand National Women’s Cricket Team to outscore the opposition for a total of less than 150 runs.
However, after that, the Australian women’s national cricket team performed better with the ball. They were excellent with the ball as they kept picking wickets at regular intervals and dominated the game from the start of the chase.
Suzie Bates (34) played a vital role for her team but no one else made a big contribution. Maddy Green, in the end, fought well for her team and scored 22 runs but she too could not continue and lost her wicket at the crucial moment of the game as Australia restricted the opposition to 113 runs to win the game by 29 runs.
Ashleigh Gardner was the most-selected bowler for the Australian women’s national cricket team. She took three wickets and returned with figures of 3/17. Apart from her, Darcie Brown, Georgia Wareham and Annabel Sutherland each picked up a wicket and won the second game of the series.
