Watch: ‘Emotional’ Mohammed Siraj bows to Jasprit Bumrah after MI vs RCB clash

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pacer Mohammed Siraj bowed to Mumbai Indians (MI) fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah after the 25th match of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) on Thursday, April 11 at Mumbai’s iconic Wankhede Stadium.

Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to bowl first in the match. There were a total of 4 changes between teams for the high-voltage match. The home team signed Shreyas Gopal for Piyush Chawla, while RCB signed Will Jacks, Mahipal Lomror and Vijaykumar Vyshak.

Batting first, Royal Challengers Bengaluru posted 196/8 on the board and let the Mumbai Indians complete the chase in 15.3 overs to win the match by 7 wickets with 27 balls remaining.

This was Mumbai Indians’ second win in the current edition of the Indian Premier League, while Royal Challengers Bengaluru faced their fifth defeat of the season and things are looking pretty bad for them at the moment.

Jasprit Bumrah was the star of the show for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the match as he took a 5-wicket haul for 21 runs and had the biggest impact on the match. He played a key role in Mumbai Indians’ victory and also bagged the Man of the Match award.

Unlike Mumbai Indians’ main pacer, RCB’s star seamer Mohammed Siraj had a horrible day on the field as in his 3 overs, he gave away 37 runs and his economy rate was 12.33.

His poor bowling performance coupled with his team’s defeat discouraged him and he appeared quite emotional during the customary handshakes after the match ended.

The ’emotional’ Mohammed Siraj, despite being disappointed, made sure to acknowledge the efforts of his India teammate Jasprit Bumrah and bowed to him before sharing a lovely hug with him after the match.

I am very happy with the result – Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah, while speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, said that he was delighted with his performance in the match. He said:

“I am very happy with the result. But I won’t say that I had always thought about taking a five for. The wicket stood in the first 10 overs. One of those days when things went in my favor and the catches went to hand .

Jasprit Bumrah added that bowling is not an easy job and especially in T20 cricket, it becomes quite difficult, so players have to adapt and try new things to emerge victorious. Jasprit Bumrah said:

“In this format, it’s very hard for the players anyway, so you need to have different skills. You can’t be a one-trick pony. Everyone is doing research and data. They’ve trained to have different skills. Play Bowling is hard because you have to take a beating, you’re going to have to have bad days to learn from it. Every time I’ve had bad days, I’ve watched videos the next day to see what didn’t work, why it didn’t work. “Bowling the batsmen in the nets hitting big sixes, find out how you react to pressure. And when you’re in the middle facing the same pressure, you’ll have answers.”

Jasprit Bumrah also revealed that he does a lot of research to know the strengths of batsmen and plans accordingly. He stated:

“I do research and see where the batsman is strong. You don’t have to use all the tricks in one day. There is no ego in this format. Even if you can bowl at 145 kmph, if the wicket demands slower balls, then you can have to throw slower balls.
