One of the main reasons for the Indian team’s loss was the poor form of captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The top batsmen struggled to get going in all three games and looked torrid with the bat against both fast bowlers and spinners.
With Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma failing to make any impact, many have questioned their place in the team now. There have been many calls for a review of the team’s format and many are of the opinion that both should also withdraw from the trials.
Amidst all this, BCCI chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar wasted no time and was seen chatting with Gautam Gambhir. He was seen arguing with head coach and assistant coach Abhishek Nayar, and the trio was seen engaged in a long and tense conversation.

Gautam Gambhir has come under massive scanner as the team’s coach
One of the major causes of concern for Ajit Agarkar and Gautam Gambhir would be the collapse of India’s batting and their inability to chase achievable targets. As many as 37 Indian wickets fell on spin, which in itself was the most important thing as Indian batsmen are generally touted as good spin players.
Gautam Gambhir, in particular, has come under scrutiny. Since he was appointed coach of the team, things have not gone very well. First they faced a series loss to Sri Lanka in ODIs and now the series loss to New Zealand in the home Tests would have been of no use.
