Gus Atkinson on Friday (July 26) played a stunning delivery to Jason Holder’s wicket on the first day of the ongoing third Test between England and West Indies at Edgbaston.

Holder was well positioned and was hitting 57 runs off 107 balls when Gus Atkinson came in to bowl the 69th over. However, the former West Indies captain had no answer to the right-arm spinner’s impressive delivery. After bowling the first four deliveries, Holder lost his wicket on the fifth ball.

Atkinson bowled a full, angled delivery to the off-stump side. Holder moved slightly and wanted to hit the ball on the off-stump side. However, the ball moved at the last minute, leaving Holder with no chance to stop it from crashing into the stumps. The ball ended up hitting the off-stump. Holder looked absolutely disoriented before walking back to the dressing room.

Talking about the game, England bowled out West Indies for 282 runs in the first innings after the visitors won the toss and opted to bat first. Captain Kraigg Brathwaite top-scored for his side, scoring 61, while Holder scored 59. Joshua Da Silva also played a crucial role by scoring 49 runs as West Indies recovered from 115 for 5 to post a total of over 250.

In response, England are on a 17-point unbeaten run at the time of writing. The hosts have already secured the series by winning the first two games and will be looking to hammer the visitors.

In the second innings, Atkinson enjoyed another brilliant run, taking 5 wickets as England bowled out West Indies by 136 runs to win the game by an innings and 114 runs.
