India’s newly appointed T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav played a sensational innings for his side in the ongoing first T20I against the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team. The match between the teams is underway at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele.
In his first appearance as the full-time captain of the Indian National Cricket Team, Suryakumar Yadav set the stage. The middle-order batsman came out to bat at the number 3 spot and made sure that he set the pace from the start as he went after the bowler from the outset.
Suryakumar Yadav came out with all his guns blazing and ensured that his team did not waste the start given by Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill. The right-hander showcased his 360-degree game and smashed bowlers all over the field, putting the opposition under pressure.
Suryakumar Yadav entertained everyone in the Indian dugout. The Indian captain led from the front and was the team’s leading run-scorer in the ongoing first T20I against the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team. He ensured that India got quick runs in the middle.
Suryakumar Yadav’s innings put India in a strong position. He came out to bat when India lost the first wicket for 74 runs, and when he walked back, India were 150/3, which shows the kind of impact he had for his team with the bat in around 8 overs that he batted.
Hardik Pandya also appreciated Suryakumar Yadav’s entry. The all-rounder came out to bat after the Indian captain got out. In the middle of the pitch, the duo met and the all-rounder was seen applauding his captain for the impact he made.

For the uninitiated, Suryakumar Yadav was the favourite over Hardik Pandya to captain the Indian team in the T20I World Cup. The all-rounder, who was the vice-captain of the team in the 2024 T20 World Cup, was not given the leadership due to his injury history.
Suryakumar Yadav finished with an innings of 58 runs off 26 balls. He batted at a strike rate of over 223 and hit 8 fours and 2 sixes in his innings. Riding on his sensational performance with the bat, India finished with an innings of 213 runs on the board.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant shine with the bat
India put in a good performance with the bat in the ongoing match against the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team. Yashasvi Jaiswal (40) and Shubman Gill (34) batted with great intent at the top and added 74 runs for the opening pair.
Following that, Suryakumar Yadav scored a half-century before Rishabh Pant ensured that India finished the innings on a high score. The wicketkeeper-batsman finished with an innings of 49 runs off 33 balls. He played at a strike rate of around 130 and also hit 6 fours and 1 six in his innings. India would be keen to defend the target and start the series on a high score.
