England national cricket team batsman Harry Brook put in a good performance with the bat in the first Test match against the Sri Lanka national cricket team. The opening match of the three-match Test series between the teams is currently underway at Old Trafford in Manchester.

Harry Brook continued his golden touch with the bat by once again playing valuable innings for the England National Cricket Team in Test cricket. The right-hander came out to bat when the team was struggling to get going and lost three wickets quickly, losing 67/3.

Brook, who has been assigned the role of vice-captain in the ongoing series, bailed his team out of trouble and ensured that they scored some runs. The young batsman played glorious shots in his innings and made many stand up and applaud him for his heroics.

Brook, who has been on a good run in Test cricket, put pressure on the Sri Lanka national cricket team bowlers again. He added 58 runs with Joe Root (42) first and then added a 68-run stand with Jamie Smith, who is closing in on another half-century in Test cricket.

With the way Harry Brook was performing, it looked like he was going to win big. But his stay at the crease was cut short by the brilliance of Sri Lanka National Cricket Team bowler Prabath Jayasuriya. The bowler came with a dream delivery for the bowler and made sure to send Brook back to the hut.

Prabath Jayasuriya bowled a ball that went to the leg stump and then hit the top of the outside stump. Harry Brook got into position on the back foot and as he tried to take a touch, the ball whistled past his outside edge and hit the off stump. With the kind of delivery it was, the batsman could hardly have done anything.

Harry Brook scored his ninth half-century in a Test for the England national cricket team. The batsman finished with an innings of 56 runs off 73 balls. His valuable knock ensured that the team went past the 200-run mark on the board. After he got out, it has been Jamie Smith who has taken charge and is keeping his team in contention.

For the Sri Lanka national cricket team, Asitha Fernando has been the best bowler. The fast bowler put England’s front-row in trouble and took three wickets – Ben Duckett (19), Ollie Pope (6) and Joe Root (42). While Vishwa Fernando also took a wicket.

At the start of the first day, England took control of the game. They were asked to bowl first and they put in a magical effort with the ball by taking wickets in quick succession.

England bowled out Sri Lanka for just 236 runs, with Chris Woakes and Shoaib Bashir picking up three wickets each. They are high on confidence, having recently won the three-match Test series against the West Indies.
