The KSCA Maharaj T20 Trophy 2024 created history with the match between Hubli Tigers and Kalyani Bengaluru Blasters. The match between the two teams was held on Friday (August 23) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Furthermore, the match between Hubli Tigers and Kalyani Bengaluru Blasters saw three super overs. The Tigers, led by Manish Pandey, opted to bat first and put in a good performance with the bat. They scored a total of 160 runs. Mohammed Taha, captain Pandey and Aneeshwar Gautam made valuable contributions.
Bengaluru Blasters bowler Lavish Kaushal was the best. He was right on target with the ball as he took 5 wickets and helped his team restrict the opposition to a low total. Kaushal also bowled one over in his innings and gave away just 17 runs in the 4 overs he bowled in the game.
Kalyani Bengaluru Blasters kept losing wickets at regular intervals and did not look like they were in the game. Captain Mayank Agarwal maintained the fort for his team by scoring a vital half-century and ending an innings of 54 runs off 34 balls.
Manvanth Kumar kept his team in contention with the ball by picking a four-fer and putting the opposition under pressure. However, Naveen MG, in the end, put in a sensational effort by scoring a 23 off 11 balls that brought the Kalyani Bengaluru Blasters back into the game as the match ended in a draw, going into a super over.
In the super over 1, Kalyani Bengaluru Blasters batted first and did not get off to a great start as they lost captain Mayank Agarwal on the first ball. In the end, Aniruddha Joshi scored the maximum to take the Blasters to 10 runs in the over.
It looked like Hubli Tigers would reach the target easily as Manish Pandey and Manvanth Kumar bowled well and took the game close to the target. But with 2 runs needed off the last 2 balls, Lavish Kaushal bowled point off the fifth ball and gave away a run off the last ball to take the game into another super over.
Hubli Tigers batted first in the second super over with Manish Pandey and Manvanth Kumar getting the strike. They did not get a single boundary in the over as Naveen MG gave away just 8 runs. Kalyani Bengaluru Blasters then got off to a flying start in the chase as LR Chetan hit a boundary on the first ball.
But after that, Manish Pandey’s brilliance in the field made the batsman run out of bat. In the end, 4 runs were needed off the last 3 balls with Suraj Ahuja and Aniruddha Joshi in the middle. However, Vidhwath Kaverappa kept his cool and defended the target as the match went into another big over.
In the third big over, Kalyani Bengaluru Blasters batted first but Manvanth Kumar gave Hubli Tigers a flying start by removing Aniruddha Joshi. Shubang Hegde and Suraj Ahuja tried their best but failed to deliver and ended up scoring just 12 runs.
Manvanth Kumar and Manish Pandey stood firm and ensured that they won the match for the Hubli Tigers. In the end, it was the Tigers who won the match and bagged two important points.
