Watch: Irfan Pathan gets extremely aggressive after out-stumping Younis Khan as India-Pakistan rivalry heats up in WCL 2024 final

Indian champion all-rounder Irfan Pathan has continued his fine form with the ball in the final of the 2024 World Legends Championship. The showpiece clash of the tournament is underway between champions India and Pakistan at the Edgbaston in Birmingham.

It couldn’t have gone any better as two arch-rivals, India and Pakistan, will lock horns in the final of the World Legends Championship 2024. Not only is the competition between bat and ball high, but the intensity is also at its highest.

This was quite clear during the wicket of Pakistan captain Younis Khan, who was removed by all-rounder Irfan Pathan. The Indian player bowled a spectacular delivery which the batsman did not understand and had to walk a long way to return to the pavilion.

During the third ball of the 12th over, Irfan Pathan bowled a ball that swung inwards after delivery. Younis attempted to tuck it towards the leg side but completely missed the ball as it went to break the middle stump and sent the batsman packing.

However, what caught the attention of many was Irfan Pathan’s farewell after he took the wicket. The all-rounder came up with an aggressive celebration as the batsman walked off the field after feeling dejected with the way he got out.

Here is the video:

Younis Khan did not have a great performance with the bat in the final. He managed just 7 runs in 11 balls and with his wicket, the champions of Pakistan lost their fourth wicket for just 79 runs. Irfan Pathan had a great performance with the ball. The all-rounder bowled 3 overs and gave away just 12 runs.

Younis Khan and Irfan Pathan share an old rivalry between them. During the first T20I between India and Pakistan in 2007, the all-rounder eliminated Pakistan’s power by smashing their stumps. And now, in the WCL final in 2024, a similar display was expected.

Pakistan champions finish on 156/6 in WLC 2024 final against Indian champions

Pakistan’s champions put in a good showing with the bat in the WLC 2024 final against the Indian champions. Opening the batting, Kamran Akmal scored 24 runs off 19 balls while his teammate Sharjeel Khan managed 12 runs off 10 balls.

Pakistan’s champions’ middle order struggled to get going as Sohaib Maqsood (21), Younis Khan (7) and Misbah-ul-Haq (18) failed to make much of a contribution with the bat. But it was Shoaib Malik who stood firm for his team.

Shoaib Malik scored 41 runs off 36 balls and took his team to a total of 156/6. For India, Anureet Singh took three wickets while Vinay Kumar, Pawan Negi and Irfan Pathan got one wicket each. The Indian champions will now be eager to achieve their goal and win the title but as the final is a high-pressure match, it will not be an easy task for the team.
