Jharkhand captain Ishan Kishan has made a surprise return to red-ball cricket after being out of action. The wicketkeeper-batsman made his comeback in the Buchi Babu tournament, organised by TNCA in the game against Madhya Pradesh on Thursday (August 15).

Ishan Kishan was in great form with the gloves behind the stumps. The wicketkeeper-batsman took three brilliant catches and put his team on top. The match between the two teams will be held at the India Cements Limited Cricket Ground in Sankar Nagar and on the first day, it grabbed headlines.

Kishan first took a brilliant catch to remove Chanchal Rathore in the 15th over of the game. Pacer Vivekanand Tiwary bowled a ball that caught the outside edge of Chanchal Rathore’s bat and the wicket-keeper batsman took a catch crouching to his left to remove the batsman.

After that, Kishan took an easy catch to remove Shubham S Kushwah. Off-spinner Aditya Singh bowled a delivery that took off and caught the edge, which was caught by the wicket-keeper batsman. The batsman scored 84 runs off 171 balls with the help of six fours and a six.

Ishan Kishan’s best catch was the third one, which he took to dismiss Ramveer Gurjar. The batsman got a feather and the wicketkeeper-batsman dove with all his strength to his left to catch the ball and dismiss the batsman with his sensational effort.

Kishan’s effort behind the stumps ensured that Jharkhand had a decent day with the ball. Madhya Pradesh ended the day at 225 for eight in 89.5 overs. Shubham Singh, Saurabh Shekhar, Vivekanand Tiwary and Aditya Singh picked up two wickets each.

Kishan would now be keen to make an impact with the bat and make his return to red-ball cricket a memorable one. The game will be an important one for the wicketkeeper-batsman as it, along with the upcoming domestic season, will be key to his return to India.

Ishan Kishan to play in Duleep Trophy for India D

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has also picked Kishan for the Duleep Trophy. The wicketkeeper-batsman has been named to the Indian D team and will play under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer in the tournament, which will be held from September 5.

Ishan Kishan was sacked from the BCCI’s annual contract after refusing to play in the domestic circuit and was even expelled from the Indian team. The BCCI asked him to play in the domestic circuit but despite multiple warnings from the BCCI and the team management, he did not play.

Reportedly, BCCI selectors approached Ishan Kishan and told him to take part in the domestic circuit. It is learnt that the wicketkeeper-batsman was told that he might miss out on international opportunities during the prime of his career. Hence, he agreed to return to the domestic circuit.
