Well, then it was Mitchell Perry’s turn to steal the show by dismissing experienced Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Matthew Wade cheaply in the crucial BBL 2024-25 clash. In the 6.2 overs of the Hobart Hurricanes innings, Wade attempted a fierce cut shot on a short ball from Mitchell Perry, but the Hobart Hurricanes keeper-batsman did not keep it down.

However, the ball would normally have gone to the boundary, but Jack Edwards, standing at the back point, made a brilliant catch, flying to his right and taking the ball with his right hand to end Matthew Wade’s stay for 4 runs of 7 balls. Jack Edwards ripped the zipper out of nowhere with his right hand.

After making the impressive catch, Jack Edwards even fell to the ground, but managed not to let go of the ball, and that was how the Sydney Sixers dealt the second blow to the Hobart Hurricanes in the ongoing BBL 2024-25 Qualifier at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart on Tuesday, January 21.

Earlier, after winning the toss, Sydney Sixers captain Moisés Henriques revealed why he opted to play first in the 2024-25 Big Bash League Qualifier against Hobart. The Australian all-rounder said at the toss, quoted by Cricbuzz: “The wicket will hold pretty well. He will be the one who comes tonight and plays the best cricket. “That is starting to be the trend in T20 cricket – opting to bowl, so you know what you are chasing.”

Moisés Henriques further explained: “When you bowl first, it takes longer to lose the game. If you lose four quick wickets on a wicket you shouldn’t have batted on, it’s pretty easy to lose the game from there. It may be a bit of a conservative mentality, but it seems to be working well.”
