Watch: Jamie Overton looks clueless as Varun Chakravarthy rattles his stumps with a jaffa

Varun Chakravarthy, on Saturday (January 25), ended his 4-over spell in the second T20I against England in stunning fashion at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. On the last ball of his spell, the Indian player completely fooled Jamie Overton.

The right arm player started the game strongly. After taking 3 wickets in the first T20I at Eden Gardens earlier this week, he castled Harry Brook with a beauty in his first over in the second T20I. He also conceded only 3 runs in his first over.

In his second over, Varun Chakravarthy gave away 11 runs. His last two overs were a bit expensive. In his third over, the 33-year-old ended up giving away 12 runs. And in its final ending, Brydon Carse took it to the cleaners. The English all-rounder welcomed the attack with six sixes in a row.

However, Varun Chakravarthy managed to end the spell on a good note when he bowled Jamie Overton on the final delivery of his fourth over. It was a mistake by the India star and Overton couldn’t pick him out. The English all-rounder wanted to hit the ball towards the inside edge, but was beaten by the inside edge. The ball hit his thigh before crashing into the stumps.

Talking about the game, England finished their innings with a competitive total of 165/9 in 20 overs. Like the first T20I, the visitors also got off to a poor start in the second game. They lost their opener two, Phil Salt and Ben Duckett, in four overs.

At one point, they were reeling at 90/5 and the 150-run mark seemed a distant dream, especially after the departure of their captain Jos Buttler for 45. However, players like Carse (31) and Jamie Smith (22). ) hit practical blows to propel their team to a good total.

For India, Axar Patel and Chakravarthy got two wickets each. India currently leads the series after winning the first game by 7 wickets and will look to go up 2-0 by winning the second game as well.
