India’s World Cup victory party reached its climax at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday (June 4). The atmosphere inside the packed stadium was absolutely electric as thousands of fans gave the World Cup winners a grand reception at the iconic venue.
The victorious Indian team landed in the country on Thursday (July 4) morning at the IGI Airport in New Delhi. They met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence in the national capital before leaving for Mumbai. In Mumbai, the team celebrated the World Cup victory with fans during the victory parade that started from Marine Drive and ended at the Wankhede Stadium.
Rohit Sharma and his teammates took a victory lap at the stadium before the BCCI congratulated the players and support staff. Several videos of the celebration at the stadium have already gone viral on social media and now another video is doing the rounds. The recent video involves Virat Kohli and BCCI secretary Jay Shah.
The incident took place during the felicitation ceremony where the BCCI handed over the cheque of Rs 125 crore to the team. All the players, led by captain Rohit Sharma, walked up to the stage one by one and shook hands with BCCI officials including President Roger Binny, Vice President Rajeev Shukla and Shah.
And when Kohli shook hands with Shah, the BCCI official looked at the batting stalwart in amazement and stared at him as the former India captain walked away. He even forgot to shake hands with India player Jasprit Bumrah before the latter shook hands with him first. Fans reacted hilariously to the video and one even claimed that “Jay Shah has fallen in love with Virat Kohli.”
