India’s wicketkeeper-batsman Jitesh Sharma suffered an unfortunate dismissal during the ongoing third T20I against South Africa. The decisive third match of the series between the teams will take place at the New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.

Jitesh Sharma came to bat during the end of the innings and tried to make an immediate impact. He hit a brutal boundary but, in search of more runs, he lost his wicket. He, however, only has himself to blame for coming out in a strange way.

On the fifth ball of the 20th over, Lizaad Williams bowled a full and outside off delivery. Jitesh Sharma dug deep into his to carve it midway. He did it perfectly but dug deep into his crease and ended up stepping on his own stumps..

Jitesh Sharma scored 4 runs off 4 balls. Although he did not make a big contribution, his knock helped India surpass the 200-run mark. India finished with a total of 201 runs on the board. Suryakumar Yadav was the highest run-getter with 100 runs to his name. Apart from him, Yashasvi Jaiswal also made a vital contribution. The left-hander scored 60 runs off 41 balls and got his team out of trouble when they lost two early wickets.

After his dismissal in the third T20I against South Africa, Jitesh Sharma became part of an unfortunate list. He made it into the list of Indian batsmen dismissed hit-wicket in T20Is. The wicketkeeper-batsman joined the likes of KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya and Shreyas Iyer.

KL Rahul came out that way during the T20I against Sri Lanka in 2018. Pandya achieved the unwanted feat against England in 2022, while Iyer was hit against the Kiwis in 2022.
