England batsman Joe Root produced a sensational performance on the field during the third Test match against the West Indies National Cricket Team. The final match of the series between the teams, which is also underway, is underway at the Edgbaston in Birmingham.
England have once again put in a good performance with their bowling in the ongoing match. The hosts, who have a 2-0 lead in the series, look to be the favourites to win another match. One of the key contributions with the ball came once again from young bowler Gus Atkinson.
Gus Atkinson has had another sensational spell of fast bowling. He took four wickets in the first innings and helped his team restrict the opposition to a low total. But the credit for his four-wicket haul goes to Joe Root, who took a sensational catch to give the player his fourth wicket.
Gus Atkinson removed Gudakesh Motie for his fourth wicket, but it was Joe Root who produced a magical effort. The fast bowler bowled a short ball to the batsman and got tangled up as he tried to steer it over his head after taking his eyes off it.
The ball flew out of the scoring area towards the wicket-keeper, who attempted to run back and catch it with one hand, but the ball sailed over his head. However, Joe Root, who was at first slip, seized the opportunity to catch it as he ran back, despite being blindsided by the wicket-keeper.
Joe Root stepped back and dove to catch a stunning low delivery to his right and took a powerful shot that sent the batsman careening off. This prompted even Stuart Broad, who was commentating, to say: “I don’t think I’ve seen a catch like that very often.”

England end West Indies innings on 282 runs
The West Indies national cricket team won the toss and opted to bat first. Captain Kraigg Braithwaite, at the top, played a vital innings and scored a half-century. He scored 61 runs and was supported by Mikyle Louis who piled on 26 runs while the duo added 76 runs for the opening partnership.
However, after that, the West Indies batsmen could not take any further action as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals before Jason Holder (59) and Joshua De Silva (49) added 109 runs to get the team out of trouble and take it past the 200-run mark.
For England, apart from Gus Atkinson, Chris Woakes took 3 wickets while Mark Wood chipped in with two scalps. Based on the collective effort with the bat, they finished the West Indies innings with 282 runs in 76 overs at the Edgbaston in Birmingham.
